Reservations
Danish hostels are extremely popular, so we recommend that you always book ahead – and preferably in good time. During the period from 15/9-1/7, reservations must be made at least three days before arrival, as the hostels may choose to close if there are no advance bookings.
The reservation of beds/rooms can be made by email, telephone or fax – or via the online booking system, to which around 40 out of Danhostel’s 96 hostels are currently connected. Stays of three or more days should normally be agreed with the hostel in advance.
A reservation has not been made until confirmation has been received from the hostel, either by telephone or in writing. The hostels are entitled to request the payment of a deposit or the full amount prior to arrival on advance bookings. The sum will be refunded in the event of a cancellation within the time limit – though possibly minus a cancellation fee of DKK 100. See more below.
Check-in
Check-in at the hostels can normally take place between 4pm-6pm. Check-in at the three city hostels in Copenhagen can, however, take place from 2pm. Reserved rooms/beds are only held until 5pm, unless otherwise agreed with the hostel. After this time, the hostel is entitled to rent the room to another guest. On the date of departure, rooms should normally be vacated by 9am and the hostel by 10am.
Cancellation
The hostel should be informed of cancellation as early as possible. Some hostels will find it very easy to rent out the cancelled room, while others will not. Unless otherwise agreed in writing by the hostel concerned, the following general cancellation terms apply to individual travellers:
Stays of one to two nights may be cancelled up to three days prior to arrival with a refund of the full amount – though minus a DKK 100 cancellation fee per room reserved. After this time, the reservation is binding and the full amount is payable for the accommodation reserved, including any extra services booked.
Stays of three or more nights may be cancelled up to seven days prior to arrival with a refund of the full amount – minus a DKK 100 cancellation fee per room reserved. After this time, the reservation is binding and the full amount is payable for the accommodation reserved, including any extra services booked.
Special cancellation rules and fees may apply to online bookings, and it is a good idea to check these with the hostel concerned.
