PLACES TO STAY ON BORNHOLM

Danhostel Hasle

Danhostel Hasle is beautifully located near the Baltic Sea, and the 78 beds is very popular with guests from all over the world all year round. The hostel lies in the middle of Hasle Fælled, which is a big green recreational area with a nice playground for the kids. Only a few hundred meters from Danhostel Hasle you will find a beautifull and children friendly sandy beach. Do not miss an evening dip in the light of the setting sun - it does not get any more romantic than that.

Danhostel Rønne

Rønnes narrow streets offer many attractions, especially the well preserved houses in the old part of town, the nice, small restaurants, charming pubs, tea rooms and cafés, each with their own tempting offers. DANHOSTEL Rønne is located in Rønnes green surroundings, which offer unique scenic experiences, and is perfectly situated just a stone's throw from dunes and the beach. Danhostel Gudhjem

The charming hostel in Gudhjem is situated close to the incredible harbour, which is a natural harbour made out of the cliffs. No other town in Denmark is as idyllic and charming as this fishing hamlet with steep streets, where the houses are almost situated on terraces in the cliff walls. The hostel has 204 beds, but remember to book well in advance, because this hostel is one of the most popular in Denmark.

Danhostel Svaneke

In the southern part of Svaneke, Danhostel Svaneke lies in peaceful surroundings by woods and beach. Danhostel Boderne

Danhostel Boderne is situated on the coast road in the south of Bornholm, between Rønne and Dueodde Beach. A bus stop just outside the door provides access to the whole island, and the distance to Aakirkeby is just six kilometres and just one kilometre to one of Denmarks best, sandy beaches. The 75-bed hostel has a cosy TV lounge and a large garden with a fireplace.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO ON BORNHOLM

Bornholm has so much to give to its visitors, and the attractions combined with the impressive nature, the food and the generous and friendly inhabitants of Bornholm, makes Bornholm the perfect destination for the whole family. Water, rocks, beaches, churches, museums, good, local food and fine gourmet dining, you name it - Bornholm has it all.

Here are a few suggestions of what to see and do on Bornholm.

Dueodde beach
 

This beach has the whitest, finest sand, you are ever likely to find. The sand at Dueodde Beach used to be used as the sand, which was used in hourglasses.

Rokkestenen

This 35-ton stone is believed to be moveable. This huge stone, which came to Bornholm in the iceage, is one of the must-sees of Bornholm, especially with families with children. Rokkestenen lies in Paradis Bakkerne - Paradise Hills.

The Round Churches of Bornholm
 

The four round churches are maybe the most famous landsmarks of Bornholm. There are seven of these churches, which are believed to be a mix of a fortress and a church, in Denmark, and the four of them lies in Bornholm, which tells something about the strategic position of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea in the middleage. The biggest of the round churches you will find in Østerlars, and the three others in Olsker, Nyker og Nylars.

Hammershus Slotsruin
 

Built in the beginning of the 12^th century, the biggest castle ruin in Northern Europe was abandoned in 1745, and today lies as an impressive sign of Bornholms past. The ruins lies in Allinge in the north, and is one of the must-sees on Bornholm

Rytterknægten

One of the highest points in Denmark lies in the forest of Almindingen. Rytterknægten is 162 above sea level, and with the big stone tower, which was built in 1856, Rytterknægten reaches 172 meters into the sky.

Ekkodalen

In the third biggest forest of Denmark, Almindingen, you find Ekkodalen - Echo Valley. In beautiful surroundings you can shout out messages in the valley, and get answers echoed back.

Ertholmene
 

20 km east of Bornholm lies the Ertholmene Islands, which contains the two main islands Christiansø and Frederiksø. Christiansø is as far you can go to the east in Denmark, and tourists visit the islands for the rough, but very beautiful nature. Everything her is protected by law, both the little fortress, the many birds and the impressive nature. To get there, you must take the boat from Gudhjem or Svaneke.
